When I activate; Remove product category base It removes the product category as described. However, all pages I my site disappear and revert to a default “shop” category. Where did all my pages go?

Hello, I’m searching to set my url like this: mysite.com/shop/category for a product category and mysite.com/shop/category/product for a single product. With woocommerce, it is not possible to set the same base ‘shop’ for both category and product, it makes 404 in this case for the product page. Is it possible to do that with your plugin?

The plugin doesn’t allow you to change the category or product base since that functionality is already in the Woocommerce core. It only allows you to remove the bases altogether if you need to.
I understand why you would be getting a 404 page when you set the base to be the same, but currently there is no way to fix the issue in Woocommerce or the plugin.
To be honest, the issue isn’t with Woocommerce but rather in the way Wordpress handles URL rewrites. It is possible to get what you want, it just requires a bit of custom work.

No, The plugin can only remove the product category base and not he product base. Its a feature that been requested quiet a bit but it causing a lot of problems with URL rewrites so I’ve left it out. I might add it in if i can find a more elegant solution

The plugin generates its own URLs based on your config. You might be able to get the same URLs but i can’t be 100% sure. It might be a good idea to put any Urls that do not work as you want directly into the .htaccess file so you don’t get any dead links. There are plenty of wordpress plugins that allow you to do this easily. Might be worth checking those out.

I have added custom SEO content to the PAGE that is associated with the ONLINE STORE, but all that shows in the browser <title> is Product.

The plugin doesn’t include a way to change the meta details of the shop page since its a normal wordpress page and meta details for it would have been handle by whatever wordpress seo plugin you are using.
It could be useful for us to add something that handles this in the event that you are not using a wordpress seo plugin (which I assume is the case with you).
We will look into it.
Using the Genesis Framework and Child Theme there is SEO functionality for individual Pages. However the custom SEO added to the Woocommerce Base Shop “Page” is not showing as the <title> and <description>.
Maybe this is a question for Genesis or Woocommerce…????
Maybe. Not too sure. But the Woocommerce SEO plugin doesn’t handle the meta for that page at all

I installed Woocommerce SEO to our site which is a Multisite Setup. I activated the Plugin just per site, but when it’s activated the Network site Backend is inaccessible. It just shows up a white site. When it is deactivated everything works fine.
Do you have any solutions for that?

To be honest I’m not too sure. The live preview of the item is set up on a multi site installation and it works fine. It’s doesn’t halp that there is no error either. If you could try again but turn on WP_DEBUG it might show an error that will help.

Please I currently have something like this on my product pages, mysite.com.com/product/mike-williams/ BUT I want this instead, mysite.com.com/authors/mike-williams/. That is, I want to replace the “product” in the url with “authors”, is this possible?

My plugin doesn’t change the product base because that functionality is already built into Woocommerce. There is an option under settings to change the product base.

Hi, I would like to use your plugin alongside yoasts plugin. You mention in a previous response that we need to stop yoasts plugin from managing the ‘product’ post type and the ‘product_cat’ type. I didn’t find on the Internet the way to do that. Do you have any documentation or any link on this topic ?

The option to disable post type was is on yoasts plugin but for some reason it was removed some versions ago. I’m now looking into some how either overriding parts of yoasts plugin or giving Woocommerce SEO priority over it.

Im not too sure what your asking, but yes, you need to exclude the product post type and the product_cat taxonomy.

The plugins doesn’t currently allow you to remove the /shop base. We’ve tries removing it but it caused too many problems so we left it out. We might add it again in the future once we can get a stable enough solution.

I am getting about 1000 crawl errors a day from G webmaster.

Hi Mark,
It sounds to me like its the exclusions you have added that are causing the problem. When i go to the link you’ve posted, it forwards me straight onto the homepage. I’m assuming when Google tries to access that page, it get forwarded too, but Google might also get a HTTP error code sent to it (503, 404 etc).
I’m no expert so don’t take my word for it but its very unlikely to be the Woocommerce SEO plugin.

Plugin stopped working for me today randomly, after about a month working perfectly. No new plugins added to the mix. No updates.
I Deactivated. Reactivated. Saved Permalinks. No success.
Then updated Woocommerce to 2.0.13. No success.
Currently running: WordPress 3.5.1 Woocommerce 2.0.13 Woocommerce SEO 1.1.1

On activating your plugin, it disturbs admin end features, we cannot add or update posts, we cannot update pages, after clicking the update button , it gives us a blank white screen. When we deactivate your plugin everything works super.
so what’s the fix?

1. You can use this plugin with Wordpress SEO plugin but you will need to set Wordpress SEO to not handle anything for the ‘product_cat’ taxonomy and the ‘product’ post type.
2. I think you have the bases mixed up. You can remove the product category base using this plugin however the default product base is ‘product_category’. The ‘category’ base you mention is Wordpresses own category base which this plugin does not remove.

Hi, it is possible to remove the product base but the feature isn’t included in plugin currently. The reason being is that when we added the feature we found that the urls would conflict with Wordpresses own urls and is very much dependent on the users and how they have their permalinks set. We decided against adding it for this reason. However, as you can see from previous comments it has been requested before so were looking into adding it in the next update. We wil llet you know once its done.
